Another RED light camera preparing to go online

Camera at Sunshine and National Activates Jan. 22

The City of Springfield will activate a photo red light camera on westbound Sunshine Street at National Avenue for a warning period only beginning Jan. 22, 2008.

The warning period will continue for least 30 days from Jan. 22, 2008. During that time, citations clearly marked as “warning notice only” will be sent to the individual or company as the owner of record of the vehicle that ran the red light. The warning notices will include photos of the vehicle in violation, but will not include access to the video documentation of the violation until the enforcement period begins.

This is the fourth activated red-light camera. The other locations are on southbound National at Battlefield Road; southbound Campbell Avenue at Battlefield and eastbound Battlefield at Campbell.

A red-light violation is defined as crossing the wide white line (known as the stop bar) at the intersection after the signal has turned red. Motorists who cross the stop bar on yellow or are in the intersection when the light turns red are not in violation of the red-light ordinance.

After the 30-day warning period expires, the fine for running a red light is $100. The photo-enforced violations will be a civil penalty and will not result in points on a driver’s record. Each photo-enforced intersection approach will be clearly marked with signs, while other signs at various locations will state that Springfield uses photo red-light enforcement.

Romney Revealed

As I have said before the only candidate on the republican side that can even carry the moniker of "conservative" is Ron Paul, however the establishment doesn't want a REAL "conservative" they want someone to carry the mantle of government continues to GROW while the electorate complains. The talking head PUNDITS will continue to blame the democrats and occasionally the RINO's even though Ron Paul is the only TRUE republican.

Mitt Romney’s victory in Michigan’s Republican primary last night throws the GOP race for president wide open. But it should also end once and for all the idea that Romney is the heir to Reagan-style conservatism.

For some reason, Romney has been able to claim the Reagan mantle despite his support for:

• A health care plan virtually indistinguishable for the one proposed by Hillary Clinton;
• Support for No Child Left Behind, calls for increased federal education spending, and a proposal to have the federal government give a laptop computer to every schoolchild in America;
• Calls for increased farm price supports;
• Support for the Medicare prescription drug benefit; and
• An undistinguished record on taxes and spending as Massachusetts governor, earning a C on Cato’s governor’s report card, and including support for $500 million in increased fees and corporate taxes.
